Start of something new: my 14 day challenge

I was walking through the mall yesterday and walked by GNC. I just wanted to browse so I walked in. The sales guy walked up to me and asked me what I was looking for? ( he could probably see the overwhelmed look that took over my face) I asked him what he recommended to jump start my weight loss. He showed me a few products but then started asking me probing questions. He was observant and noticed I had a 6 week old baby with me. He said, well before we get into all that's on the shelves lets hit the basics. Do you excersise? Yes I just started, I go about 3 times a week currently. Next he asked me how's my diet, he cued in then to my newborn and asked do you forget meals? How'd he know..... I can barely remember to get dressed out of sweats let alone trying to remember to eat breakfast. He said well I don't want to set you up or reccomend something where you have to remember like 10 pills a day so lets start from square one. EATING & EATING RIGHT!

So he showed me the lean shake they offer at there store. It seemed like an easy start for me. I said I'd think about it and I would come back after shopping. I then waked out and went over to vitamin world. I like to shop all my opions first. They recommended pills, a green coffee been thing and some sort of liquid that honestly looked like cough syrup. He recommended to take the "cough syrup" once in morning on an empty stomach.... So I walked around the store reading the label.....here is whe I left without bying, I read the label t said take twice a day and NEVER take on an empty stomach.... I don't like when I get instruction that are absoultly opposite from the label. So i left and went back t GNC. I bought the lean shake 25. So It came with a 14 day diet and excersise plan. Basically it has you work out 4 times a week you do a little cardio and switch between upper and lower body workout. ( that's what I already do yay! Next it was a detailed meal plan but basically tells you to have 5 meals a day.... ( that's advice we've been hearing for years in the diet world) so I think if I actually set my mind on it I can totally do this!

Here is my plan:
Lean shake & fruit for breakfast (7am)

          Mid morning snack (10am)

Lean shake and fruit for lunch (12pm)

          Afternoon snack (3pm)

Dinner ( no idea what I'm doing here but I'm going to work on portion control here) (6pm)

** for snacks I'm going to rotate : granola bars, fruit, vegi, yogurt type items

OK HERE I GO!!!

Crazy 2 weeks

So...... I procrastinated at waited almost another week before posting. I think it's because last Friday I was planning continuing to go full bore at the gym. I had lost 3 lbs yay..... Well I threw out my back moving my husband truck box. He warned me it was heavy and to just "let it drop" but once it reached the end of the truck bed and as soon  as it started to go what happened? I didn't let go and went with it......OUCH. So the gym was out. Through the week I gained the 3 lbs back.....grrrrrr ( the cake and pie I made for my hubby's birthday didn't help) well after a trip to the chiropractor I'm feeling way better and went on a 2 mile walk with another mom. Had great conversation and it made walking enjoyable. Happy to report I weighed myself today and down 2.5 lbs. so if I avoid the leftover cake staring at me from the fridge with its xray death ray, I think I can keep up the start to my weight loss......wish me luck!

The start of something new:

5 week post delivery: WHAT TO DO???????? Well let try this again. I signed up for the gym last week and have gone every other day so far. My problem at this point is not giving into temptation but my memory to be honest. I need to remember not only my keys and the new baby but I need to remember to eat. With trying to get a 5 yr old to kindergarten and the baby needing food, clean diaper ect. It gets to be a bit hectic and I forget about me. I hate looking at the clock and its 1:00 and wow I didnt eat breakfast or lunch. Let me tell you skipping meals is not the way to lose weight trust me I've tried. So my goal for this week is to pre package snacks. Maybe I'll throw some in the diaper bag so I don't use forgetting them at home as an excuse. Today is Thursday and I will weigh in Monday morn, October 1st.

Welcome:

Hi, my name is Anna. I like most of you have struggled with the roller coaster of weight loss. I've tried every quick fix known to man and to be honest not the biggest fan of hard work when it comes to dieting but I know it's the only way that it truly works. So here's my story so that you can get an idea of where I'm coming from, my struggles and my successes.

In high school I was 5'6 and 165 lbs. I was a sized 11/12. Isn't it amazing how when you were thinner you think your soo fat and once you really get to the point and are overweight you think back to your thinner days and you are annoyed that you though that way. Well anyway, I met my husband in high school and started gaining weight after I graduated. I reached my heaviest point by our wedding in 2006. I was 21 years old and 270 lbs.

In 2007 I gave birth to our first daughter. I was extremely lucky due to morning sickness that I did not gain anything during my first pregnancy. But after her birth I was so unhappy with my wight and my body that I fell into post partum depression. After a few months of going through that I knew I had to make a change because I was not willing to see the 300 lb mark. Soon after making this decision, I start working out at butterfly life gym. I did the circuit training and a few classes and started seeing some results in inches lost but the scale wasn't moving. This  frustrated me to be honest more than it motivated me. I didn't change my diet, and was trying quick fixes like diet pills but wasn't getting the true results that I wanted. I stuck with butterfly life for about a year and lost maybe 20 lbs. I failed because I didn't change my diet. I was still drinking pop, eating candy bars and fast food. I failed because I wanted to get results without commitment. After that I tried other things like skipping meals and other dietary supplements. Nothing was helping me.

In 2009 I tried Jenny Craig. I shelled out the money and bought the food. I stuck with that about 2 months and lost about 10 lbs. honestly I still have about 10 of the meals in my pantry...... See ya I'm real good with commitment obviously lol.

2010 hit and I was kinda tired of being a stay at home mom and needed adult interaction. So I started working again. I worked the evening shift so i found myself back at the 270lb mark because at about my 9pm break I found myself heading to the vending machine. So in march or 2010 I vowed that I would change not only my exercise routine but accompany it was proper eating. That September I signed up at thrive fitness in Ferndale. I stayed true to my word and worked hard at proper proportions on meals and worked out like 4-5 days a week.

In early 2011 I decided to invest in myself and hired a personal trainer from thrive. She showed me how to work out for my body type and gave me some variety in my workout. With hard work and determination I was seeing real results and by spring I had reached my lowest maintained weight of 200lbs. I was able to maintain that within about 10 lbs range. I was finally happy, I had gotten a new job and I was feeling good about my success.

In August of 2011 my husband and I decided to try again for a baby. In October I was graduating from my medical assisting program when we found out we were pregnant. We were ecstatic! We were so excited to tell our family that we couldn't even wait a day. Unfortunately the following day after we told everyone, I miscarried. We were devastated to say the least. At that point I was a bit depressed and fell off the bandwagon. I stopped working out and ate a bunch of crap and so I gained about 25 lbs. as we neared Christmas I took another test just in case and to my surprise we were pregnant again. I surprised my husband on Christmas eve.

The first half of my pregnancy went well weight wise. I stated at 230lbs and didn't gain anything. Then of course the 2nd half came and I loaded 36lbs on. I of course didn't eat as good as I should and started drinking pop again. I blamed my cravings and just used the pregnancy as an excuse to eat what I wanted like so many of us do. I started to freak though as week by week I saw the scale move up. I was slowly creating up on that dreaded 270lb mark that I had tried so very hard to get away from. I tried to rationalize that I was pregnant and some weight gain is ok but it's hard to do that when you have been through such a long and hard process of losing it. My husband tried to comfort me by telling me the weight gain was different than before it was all in my waist and that I still looked thinner in my face. It's amazing how sometimes we just don't want to listen to men even when there trying to be supportive. All I saw was fat Anna again and it freaked me out because there was little I could do when I was pregnant. Dieting was out f the question and I just didn't seem to have the will
Power to say no to my cravings.

Aug 22, 2012 we welcomed our beautiful second daughter Kylie Ann into this world. I am blessed to have 2 wonderful girls now.

Now that you know a little about me and my struggles and successes I hope you can relate to me and follow along on my journey. I hope this will provide inspiration for those of you that have tried and tied and need the extra push to succeed like I did.
